It is always a rewarding event for an advisor to watch their student debate research with our renowned faculty and hold their own. In the end, Pedram did more than hold his own, he did what others thought not possible. The molecule studied was DBS which has more than a 100 years of publication history and he is the first to experimental identify the importance of the primary and secondary hydroxyl molecular motifs! To say I am proud of his accomplishment is a great understatement.
